The New York Post reported that the body of 47-year-old Rebecca Landrith was found by a Department of Transportation employee on the side of a ramp of I-80 early Sunday morning. A coroner later found that she had been shot eighteen times, suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the head, neck, and throat.

Landrith’s iStudio Page stated that she worked in New York City as a model and a  finalist for the “Miss Manhattan” contest in 2014, as well as the “America’s It Girl Miss Lady Liberty” pageant.

“Ms. Landrith has appeared in numerous product advertisements, video commercials, magazines, acted as a spokesmodel in videos for businesses and their websites, and multiple haute-couture Runway shows including Fashion Week,” states her biography on the site.

A note found in Landrith’s pocket led to police tracking down 28-year-old Tracy Rollins, who they arrested on Wednesday. Rollins, a truck driver from Dallas, Texas, was arrested in Connecticut and charged with homicide and abuse of a corpse.

Police said that the note found on Landrith had Rollins’ name, a phone number, and an email address. They added that before her death, Landrith had recently traveled through Indiana and Wisconsin.

An affidavit has revealed that Rollins claimed to investigators that he had never met Landrith and that he had been traveling with a woman named “Leslie,” who he met at a truck stop in Connecticut. He alleged that he and Leslie had traveled together through Maine; Brooklyn, New York; Connecticut; and Wisconsin.

Police then found that back in December, Landrith had made hotel reservations under the name Leslie Myers.

While Landrith’s family is relieved that an arrest has been made, they are also mourning her death and devastated over what happened to her.

“We’re relieved,” her brother George Landrith told PennLive. “It doesn’t ease the sense of loss.”

“Her family loved her dearly,” he added. “None of this brings her back. It is important she receives justice.”
