Even if the Covid-19 pandemic had not affected the determination of Japanese nationals to stay in Paris, the alert of the Japanese authorities has been cause for concern. The latter has warned, reported Le Figaro on Monday, that an acid attack was committed on February 10 in the French capital. And this kind of attack was not so rare, quite the contrary, according to the Japanese Embassy.
Since Saturday, Internet users have been relaying an email sent by the Japanese consular services in France. The document detailed the assault, which had occurred three days earlier in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. According to the French newspaper, this message pointed out that the assault was committed “using strongly acidic liquids”. The Japanese Foreign Ministry also mentioned the incident on its site.
Beyond the details of the attack, the Japanese embassy warned: “Violent crime occurs constantly, so when using public transport or traveling outside, always pay attention to the surrounding conditions.” On Monday February 15, the Japanese representation in Paris confirmed having sent the e-mail mentioned above to the Japanese community present in France, in order to “encourage them to be vigilant”.
